With her son now an adult, Pearl Nolan, a single mother, decides to follow her long-held aspiration by starting a private detective agency. She operates this new venture from her family’s eatery in the seaside town of Whitstable. Thanks to her compassionate demeanor, the townspeople quickly begin to approach her with various cases. However, when a former friend passes away under mysterious circumstances, Pearl ends up at odds with the town’s new, tough detective, DCI Mike McGuire.
